Gedgrave Estate, Suffolk

The Gedgrave Estate lies in a beautiful part of the Suffolk coast, among the creeks of the Alde and Ore Estuary.

Owned by the Greenwell family since the 1930s, it includes farming, woodland, residential and commercial property to let and the historic Butley Priory Gatehouse, now an event venue.

Farming is very important to the Gedgrave Estate and to the economy of the local area. On the mostly sandy land we grow potatoes and onions, cereals and sugar beet, while on the marshes next to the Estuary sheep and cattle graze.

Our locations

The estate provides houses, workshops, studios and offices for rent, mostly in converted old farm buildings. Butley Priory Gatehouse is now available as a wedding and event venue along with holiday accommodation. Dalmigavie Estate also offers holiday houses in the Scottish Highlands.

Surrounding area

This beautiful area of East Suffolk has thousands of acres of forest which are available for walking, riding or cycling, and the quiet estuaries are a haven for birdwatchers. The world famous Aldeburgh Festival is based at nearby Snape Maltings, where there is a range of music events available all year round.
