Land to let

Mooring

The narrow winding estuary of the Butley Creek is a tributary of the Alde-Ore estuary, and runs 4.5 km inland to the village of Chillesford. The estate has land on both banks, and extensive saltmarshes.

The Butley Ferry has existed on this site since 1383, and now carries passengers on foot and with bicycles at Bank Holidays and weekends from April to October.

There are boat moorings in Butley Creek which the estate lets on an annual basis. Please email the office for more information.

The Pinney family have been at Butley Creek for 70 years, where they established oyster and mussel beds and a smokery. In Orford they have their renowned restaurant The Butley Orford Oysterage and a shop www.pinneysoforford.co.uk

Grazing

There are c.200 Ha of grass, on which sheep and pedigree Hereford cattle graze. The grassland is extensively managed with few inputs, and some of it has raised water levels for the benefit of wading birds.
